There's more to the Y than you may think.GIVE ONLINE BUTON

The YMCA needs your help. We're not a gym. We're not a recreation facility. We are a charitable organization. As a nonprofit, we rely on the generosity of people like you to support our programs and services. Everything the Y does is in service of making us--as individuals and a community--better. Together, we can achieve so much more.

Please consider making a gift to the Y.

Annual Campaign

Annual Campaign

Each year, the YMCA of Central Virginia provides 25,508 meals for children we serve in Lynchburg and the surrounding areas, and delivers at least 332 backpacks with school supplies to local school children. Between our two branches, over 312 children receive free swimming lessons after school. Last summer, the Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program helped 151 local children improve their reading skills thorugh our FREE Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program.

All of these things are funded by private donations, not membership fees. Please give to our Annual Campaign today.

Face the Forest

Face the Forest

The Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest and the Jamerson Family YMCA join forces each year to present the annual Face the Forest Obstacle Course Run.

This popular family-friendly event has become a local tradition, welcoming runners and athletes at varying skill levels from around the region.

The YMCA of Central Virginia and Poplar Forest share a common goal of serving as valuable community resources. Entry fees support Children’s Education Programs at Poplar Forest and the Y’s Annual Support Campaign.
Healthy Kids Day

Healthy Kids Day

Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out and grow. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain weight and fall behind in studies. On April 21st, the Y will celebrate Healthy Kids Day®, our national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook for updates on Healthy Kids Day 2018!
Halloween at the Y

Halloween at the Y

Halloween at the Y is an annual, much-loved celebration and day of fun for the whole family! Kids and adults of all ages are invited to welcome fall with a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting, selfie booth, haunted hallways, live music, DJ, experiments, healthy snacks and more while contributing to the good work the Y is doing in our area. All proceeds from admission fees support our financial assistance and scholarship programs that assist families, seniors and youth in our community. Details for the 2017 Halloween Party will be posted on our event calendar soon. Be sure to sign up for emails and text alerts to stay up to date on all Y happenings.
Youth Sports

Youth Sports

Through youth sports at the Y kids gain confidence, learn about team work, and develop leadership skills. As a youth sports sponosr you and your organization or business will be recognized as a friend of the Y, and a stronger communities supporter.

Is your child currently a youth sport participant? It is possible that some of the kids on your child's team are recipients of our scholarship fund. Each season our sports teams are given a challenge to raise funds for the upcoming year.
