Terracotta Army Exhibit Trip
Tuesday, February 27, 2018, 08:30am - 06:00pm

Discovered in 1974 by farmers in China, this underground army of nearly 8000  life size terracotta figures is known as one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is host to ten figurines including a cavalry horse, among 130 works that tell the story of China’s birth and one man’s lasting imprint on a nation. The Terracotta Army was created to accompany the emperor to the afterlife. The exhibit also features jewelry and art that tells the story of China’s history from 770-206BC. An exhibit and trip that promises to have something for everyone. If Chinese history’s not your cup of tea, the Museum has other exhibits that are just as special.

The trip will depart from the Jamerson Y and transportation will be provided by the Y mini-buses. The cost of the trip is $45.00 for Y members and $48.00 for non Y members. The price includes a museum ticket and transportation. Lunch is on your own and may be enjoyed in the VMFA café. Trip capacity is 28 and the minimum is 14. Registration may be made by e-mailing marytaylor@lynchburgymca.org or by signing up at the front desk of any of our 3 Y locations. Payment is due by Tuesday, February 20th.
